Sir Willard White
Sir Willard White pays tribute to Paul Robeson in an evening of ‘music of the people’ from around the world,
including Welsh & British folk songs, Negro spirituals, Russian song, classic early jazz & even some Gershwin
and Kern.
Sir Willard is joined by a small group of eminent musicians including Neal Thornton on piano and Guy Barker on trumpet while linking narrator Beverley Humphreys tells the story of Robeson’s life as she introduces classics such as ‘Old Man River’, ‘I got plenty o’ Nothing’, ‘Song of the Volga Boatmen’ and ‘All Through the Night’.
