WELCOME TO THE
LLOYDS TSB WELSH PROMS CARDIFF 2008

Now in its 23rd year, under the artistic direction of Owain Arwel Hughes OBE, the much loved Lloyds TSB Welsh Proms Cardiff season is one of the focal points in the city’s cultural calendar and a hallmark of the Cardiff Festival, combining magical music with an irresistible party atmosphere throughout St David’s Hall, the National Concert Hall of Wales.

This year the Lloyds TSB Welsh Proms Cardiff programme is further enhanced to mark the occasion of the celebration of the 25th Anniversary year of the opening of St David’s Hall. The 2008 season offers seven magnificent orchestral symphony concerts, featuring the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, together with outstanding soloists and choirs. One of the highlights of this celebratory year will undoubtedly be the performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, featuring the legendary Bryn Terfel, and Rebecca Evans.

To complete the season we have Folk, Gamelan, Organ and Children’s Proms, plus Prom in a Primary and, of course, the highly popular Tiddly Prom for the youngest members of our audience.
